Graduated in 2006 in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Florence and she has obtained in 2010 a PhD degree in Landscape Architecture and Planning at the University of Florence, Faculty of Architecture, with a research on the territorial systems of relations between cultural routes, landscapes, society and identity. Eleonora is currently Coordinator of the projects of Cultural Routes at the European Institute of Cultural Routes in Luxembourg, where she has been working for three years. She is regularly invited as speaker at international conferences and seminars, focusing her contributions in particular on the methodology of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and on the potential of the routes as vectors for a coherent and sustainable development and planning for the European territories. She has written several scientific articles in Italian, French, English on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, sustainable development, cultural and ordinary landscapes, especially those that feature the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. She is author of the book Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe: between landscape project and research of identity (Firenze University Press, 2012); she is co-author of the guide on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe edited by the Touring Club Italiano in 2011 and coeditor of the collective book Cultural Routes management from theory to practice. Step by step guide to the Council of Europe Cultural Routes, which will be edited in 2013.

Abstract

The article aims at offering a methodological contribution to the study and project of cultural routes. The cultural routes are analysed considering their nature of complex territorial systems.
The potential which cultural routes may develop, if considered as cultural complex and inclusive goods, is the understanding of the interactions with the landscape at the change of socio-economic and cultural contexts crossed. In this sense, cultural routes are tools of development for a landscape project based on the endogenous resources of the territories.
