Elena Di Blasi is Associate Professor of Political and Economic Geography at the Department of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Messina, where she teaches at the second level degree courses. Her main research interests focus on the following research areas: policies for the prevention of natural hazards; the enhancement of cultural heritage and of historical small centers; tourism; immigration and multiculturalism; the role of commerce in the process of urban transformation; urban competitiveness and sustainability; issues of social geography. She is author of many scientific publications.

Alessandro Arangio is Researcher at the University of Messina, at the Department of Human and Social Sciences, where he teaches "Geography and Territorial Analysis" at the 1st level course in "Socio-cultural Mediation and Social Sciences for Cooperation and Development". He is author of many scientific publications in Italian and English and his main research interests focus on the following areas of geographical sciences: urban and regional geography, geopolitics, the role of tourism and commerce in the process of transformation of cities and urban identities.
